What is Vacation Bible School?
Vacation Bible School (VBS) is a non-denominational program that teaches kids basic Bible truths about God’s love, His Word (the Bible) and salvation, in fun and interactive ways.
What will my child do at VBS?
In addition to hearing an exciting Bible story each day, kids will enjoy delicious snacks, play lively games, create incredible crafts, and learn memorable songs. In each activity, the general theme or that day’s lesson will be reinforced. Plus they’ll have the opportunity to share God’s love with other kids around the world in our mission project.
What is this year’s theme?
School is in session at Robot Academy. Maestro, the new bot at school, teaches Scrappy about her Primary Program: to have a relationship with the Master Programmer. And not only that, but that the Master Programmer has equipped all bots with apps to help them live as He designed. Over the five days of VBS kids will learn first that God made them to have a relationship with Him, and that when that relationship begins they can start living the lives they were programmed for!
What will my child be learning each day?
Each day kids will begin their class time with a cartoon about the characters at Robot Academy that mirrors the Biblical truth we’ll be focusing on that day. Then with a Bible story and memory verse teachers will cover a topic pertinent to kids’ everyday lives.
Day 1 – Programmed for something different
• Bible Story – Jesus dies and rises again.
• Memory Verse – Romans 10:9
Day 2 – Programmed for kindness
• Bible Story – Jesus treats Zacchaeus with kindness.
• Memory Verse – Ephesians 4:32a
Day 3 – Programmed for forgiveness
• Bible Story – Parable of the servant being forgiven his debt; Peter learns about forgiveness.
• Memory Verse – Ephesians 4:32b
Day 4 – Programmed for service
• Bible Story – The Good Samaritan.
• Memory Verse – Hebrews 13:16
Day 5 – Programmed to share the gospel
• Bible Story – Paul fearlessly shares the gospel from city to city.
• Memory Verse – Romans 1:16a
When is VBS?
VBS is July 31st – August 4th from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm.
On Sunday, August 6th families are invited to join us for service at 10:45 am, to see a recap of the week and watch the kids perform their songs. After church a free hot dog lunch will be provided. Families can enjoy some food, then spend time going head to head in a few of our fun VBS games.
Who can attend VBS?
VBS is open to children who are 3 years old to children who have completed 6th grade.
While most parents opt to drop their children off, if necessary adults are welcome to stay throughout the evening.
If I drop my child off who will they be with?
Children are placed into classes based on age/grade level. Each classroom as well as each activity center is equipped with a number of adults who have been thoroughly screened and background checked.
What if my child has special needs or allergies?
Before the start of VBS parents are asked to fill out a registration form. Part of this form covers any special needs your child might have. After the form is filled out the appropriate adult parties are informed of your child’s need and the best way to address it.
Why should I bring my child to VBS at Mentor Baptist?
While a lot of churches offer VBS programs, you’ll only find Robot Academy here. Each year we strive to create an original program that we think kids will love and that will help them grow spiritually.
How can I sign up?
Click here to fill out a registration form, or feel free to call the church office at 440-942-8278.
How can I get my child ready for VBS?
If you haven’t already registered, that’s a great place to start. While pre-registration isn’t necessary it is very helpful. If you do choose to register the day of, please plan to arrive early in order to fill out the appropriate forms before the event begins.
Kids should come wearing “play” clothes and tennis shoes, as they will be spending plenty of time running around during games and getting creative during crafts.
Lastly, while nothing is required to bring to VBS, your child is always welcome to bring his or her own Bible to follow along during the classroom time.
