Dive into the depths of God’s Love at Mentor Baptist’s totally original Vacation Bible School Tank Tales!  With the help of the creatures living in the tank, kids will learn that because God loves them He makes them a part of His family.  Then, because of His love He: gives them boundaries, provides for them, listens to them, and has a plan for their lives!

What is Vacation Bible School?

Vacation Bible School (VBS) is a non-denominational program that teaches kids basic Bible truths about God’s love, His Word (the Bible), and salvation, in fun and interactive ways.

What will my child do at VBS?

In addition to hearing an exciting Bible story each day, kids will enjoy delicious snacks, play lively games, create incredible crafts, and learn memorable songs. In each activity, the general theme or that day’s lesson will be reinforced. Plus they’ll have the opportunity to share God’s love with other kids around the world in our mission project.

What will my child be learning each day?

Each day kids will begin their class time with a cartoon about the characters of Tank Tales that mirrors the Biblical truth we’ll be focusing on that day. Then with a Bible story and memory verse teachers will cover a topic pertinent to kids’ everyday lives.

Day 1 – God loves me so… He makes me part of His family.
• Bible Story – Salvation message
• Memory Verse – 1 John 3:1a – See how great a love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God!

Day 2 – God loves me so… He sets boundaries for me.
• Bible Story – Israel is given the Ten Commandments
• Memory Verse – Psalm 32:8a – I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you shall go.

Day 3 – God loves me so… He provides for me.
• Bible Story – God gives Israel manna
• Memory Verse – Philippians 4:19a – My God will supply every need of yours.

Day 4 – God loves me so… He listens to me.
• Bible Story – David tells God how he feels
• Memory Verse – Psalm 66:19a – But most certainly, God has listened.

Day 5 – God loves me so… He has a purpose and plan for me.
• Bible Story – God’s big plan for Joseph
• Memory Verse – Romans 8:28 – We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose.

When is VBS?

VBS is July 30th – August 3rd from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm.

On Sunday, August 5th families are invited to join us for service at 10:45 am, to see a recap of the week and watch the kids perform their songs. After church a free hot dog lunch will be provided. Families can enjoy some food, then spend time going head to head in a few of our fun VBS games.

Who can attend VBS?

VBS is open to children who are 4 years old to children who have completed 6th grade.

While most parents opt to drop their children off, if necessary adults are welcome to stay throughout the evening.

If I drop my child off who will they be with?

Children are placed into classes based on age/grade level. Each classroom as well as each activity center is equipped with a number of adults who have been thoroughly screened and background checked.

What if my child has special needs or allergies?

Before the start of VBS parents are asked to fill out a registration form. Part of this form covers any special needs your child might have. After the form is filled out the appropriate adult parties are informed of your child’s need and the best way to address it.

Why should I bring my child to VBS at Mentor Baptist?

While a lot of churches offer VBS programs, you’ll only find Tank Tales here. Each year we strive to create an original program that we think kids will love and that will help them grow spiritually.

How can I sign up?

Click here to fill out a registration form, or feel free to call the church office at 440-942-8278.

How can I get my child ready for VBS?

If you haven’t already registered, that’s a great place to start. Kids should come wearing “play” clothes and tennis shoes, as they will be spending plenty of time running around during games and getting creative during crafts.

Lastly, while nothing is required to bring to VBS, your child is always welcome to bring his or her own Bible to follow along during the classroom time.

Get your little fish signed up today and let them discover how deep the Lord’s love for them is!
